When Muchelle first stepped into Christ Central Ministries in July 2024, she had no idea how deeply it would impact her life. What started as a simple request to donate women’s clothing quickly turned into a daily commitment of service and love for her neighbors in Columbia, SC.
From Clothing Drive to Daily Service
A friend’s request opened the door. Someone needed women’s clothing, and Muchelle gathered her friends to help. But instead of just dropping off donations, she came to see firsthand what Christ Central was doing. What she witnessed touched her heart.
“The first day I came down here was so heartfelt, so warming,” she recalls. Seeing the needs of the less fortunate stirred something in her, and she felt God calling her to serve.
Since then, Muchelle has been faithfully volunteering Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., helping to serve breakfast. Though she is a chef by trade, she finds joy not only in the kitchen but in serving meals directly, cleaning up afterward, and simply stepping in wherever she’s needed.
A Ministry with Many Doors of Hope
Through her service, Muchelle has also discovered the wide reach of Christ Central Ministries. Beyond meals, the ministry provides:
- A computer lab to help individuals gain access to resources and opportunities.
- An eye clinic for those in need of vision care.
- A food bank on Wednesdays to support families and individuals.
“Christ Central Ministries has so many areas that help,” Muchelle says, “and I’m grateful to play even a small part.”
Answering God’s Call to Serve
Muchelle describes herself simply: “I am a servant to the Lord.” For her, volunteering is more than filling a need—it’s living out her faith and extending love to neighbors she calls “less fortunate” rather than “homeless.”
Her joy in serving is contagious, and her message is clear: “I would like to extend the invitation because we do need the help. If you have 1–2 hours, however much time you have, we’re here Monday through Friday, and other churches serve on Saturday and Sunday. You have seven days a week to come out and volunteer.”
An Invitation to You
Like Muchelle, you too can make a difference. Whether you have just an hour to spare or more time to give, your presence matters. Every meal served, every donation received, every act of kindness brings hope to someone in Columbia.
Join us at Christ Central Ministries and help us love and serve our less fortunate neighbors. Together, we can change lives—one breakfast, one smile, one act of service at a time.
