For nearly 18 years, Mr. Jim Sampson, Director of Concessions of Hope, has faithfully led a ministry dedicated to meeting both the physical and spiritual needs of our community. Under the umbrella of Christ Central Ministries, Concessions of Hope provides three meals a day to between 100 and 150 people, offering not only food but also dignity, compassion, and fellowship.
But the ministry doesn’t stop at daily meals. Concessions of Hope also operates a food bank, ensuring families in need can access groceries to carry them through difficult times. It’s more than a program—it’s a family of volunteers and community members working together to live out the love of Christ.
More Than Just a Meal
What makes Concessions of Hope unique is the spirit in which it serves. As Mr. Sampson often reminds the team, “We rejoice in the Lord and count it a privilege to work in God’s vineyard.” Volunteers don’t just serve food—they share friendship, offer listening ears, and provide a welcoming presence to anyone who walks through the doors.
No matter someone’s race, background, or circumstances, they are received as part of God’s family. “We all have the same color blood, we all have the same Father,” Mr. Sampson says, reminding us that service here is grounded in unity and love.
A Call to Serve
Concessions of Hope thrives because of the beautiful staff of volunteers who donate their time and resources. They cook, clean, serve, and fellowship with those who need encouragement and support. Each act of kindness, big or small, helps extend the hand of Christ to someone who may feel forgotten.
If you’re looking for a place to make a real difference, we invite you to come join us. Whether you have a few hours a week or a day each month, your presence matters. Together, we can continue to feed the hungry, care for the hurting, and bring hope to Columbia.
